Seriously amish: I tried to revoke my media usage.

For one week I tried, not taking in any media, this included news media, social media and entertainment. I did not listen to the radio, iPod, or Cd's; didn't watch TV, films, or videos; didn't read the newspaper, books or magazines ( wether online or in print form) Is this possible? you're asking? Sure is. Didn't surf the internet; and didn't check my blog or social media websites like Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. Yea, it feels awesome, not really. It didn't feel awesome. Technically, you could do this, and it's not bad. Remarkable as it may seem I started having withdrawal symptom. Let's be honest guys, I can say that I am probably not the only one. I think they coined a term now for people who live in extremely busy cities in the world that are addicted to their phones. Sometimes not in a natural way. Although, the world is pretty well much a technical setting, there is no reason why this should rule our lives. Because we take an increase in

Letting go of nasty old habits.

There is nothing like a brand new sense of freshness. It's symbolic of a new start, of new beginnings. Travelers have been since the dawn of time, enjoying a myriad of ways to travel. There are various types of travel, by airplane, by car, by boat & by train. I've decided to embark on an adventure, please check my blog for future increments of pictures and commentaries as I travel. Be sure to leave a comment if you see something that sugars you up just the right way. Please don't leave without a comment. Make sure you let me know if there is anything I should include in my trip. I also appreciate if you leave me any feedback, since no great endeavor was ever accomplished as the one you accomplish with the help of others. I keep updating my website throughout the day, maybe sometimes even a couple of times within the hour. If you can read, for real, leave me some comments, it enables me to get to know you a bit better and it gives you a sense of connectedness that most p

Caviar: Fish eggs, Goofy taste or YAY!

Eventually the world will come to a stop, at which point you will ask yourself is it me or is the world ending right now? At this time you will want to try everything. Caviar. What is your type? Beluga Caviar, Snail Caviar or just simply old-fashioned eggs from a fish called the sturgeon. What is it you ask? A delicacy. Even banned in some European countries. In much simpler terms, it's composed of fish eggs stemming for the sturgeon, a fish, duh! So no good. Enticing & appetizing maybe. My Sri-Lankan husband eats caviar at home like a boss. He eats it like it's a popcorn and a movie night. The tradition is that in his family they eat this by the handful, like it's nothing. Couldn't believe it. Why? Well, my friends I have a blog for a reason so I can enlighten you with certain shady topics such as these. Caviar is one of the most distinguished types of foods there are. It is usually the fish from the Caspian sea or the Black sea. It's not, I repeat, it is not y

Every time the phone rings

Image
Have you ever asked yourself what would you do if your phone ever stopped it's ring? Each time I hear a phone, I know, I can honestly say that this is the time when I'm little or less mindful than usual. Each time you hear a telephone ring, chime, or buzz, stop what you're doing and take three mindful breaths. I know what you're thinking, what's the point of a telephone? It's to ring. That's its nature. No, No I agree with you my friends. I did not come here to argue with you. Those are not my true intentions. How hard is to pause for a second, really how hard is it to stop and appreciate it? Is it really hard to do this though? Technology is growing rapidly, and I know through my own fault this is true. I blame no-one but myself, I can't blame others for the thing that I do everyday, day in and day out. I am so addicted to my phone that I even take it in the shower with me like, every other day. I think, I needed to get some work done, I don't have

Tea Part II

Pu-er tea is produced by a most unusual process. Green tea leaves are stacked in a heap and left slightly moist so that they can undergo a similar bacterial reaction that you would see and occurs in a compost heap. Yikes! Right? The "fermented leaves are sometimes aged for as long as fifty years. The resulting FLAVA is earthy, and mold like. Anyone up for some moldy tasting tea, it's an acquired taste for real, maybe even of the highest standards. It is classified by collectors as a wine vintages, and people are willing to pay outrageous prices per cake of compacted tea, I'm talking ranging in the thousands. Such is its popularity that certain people claim to have this tea as a passion, claiming they are connoisseurs and speculators. The sizes of the cakes ranges from as small as 100 grams to as large as 5 kg.  Absolutely, this is a hobby that requires you to put some focus into it. So if you are considering collecting pu-er tea recently, I suggest you try something less.

How you CAN get more BANG from your bean: from the store back to your wallet.

I am regular coffee and tea drinker. I can't lie, I can't live without the warmth of a good' old cup of joe. When the winter kicks in, especially because I am higher up North, my coffee cravings and tea desires comes in for a double-round, ride in the hay. This time a year specially because I don't think anyone else lovessss this hot beverage as I do. I think Starbucks is making a killing with me, I am a huge fan of their S'mores drink. C'mon who thinks of putting s'mores in a drink? Totally fab, or how a friend I have says, Totes. A little bit of facts because I am also, alas, a fact lover. A pound of ground coffee yields 50 cups while a pound of loose tea leaves yields some 200 cups. Put it on your Instagram caption, next time you go to Starbucks for a nice espresso. And did you know that Ariana Grande had a coffee cup size named after her? I digress. If you are like me, most times you tend to go outside, during work hours and buy a coffee or a tea. That k

Tea

In China's tea plantation women are given the job of picking tea leaves by hand because their fingers are suitable for the plucking. I know this sounds a bit maddening, however, I am not surprised at all of this fact. Chinese women have very small hands. Have you ever been at a Chinese nail salon, sweetheart? They have the perfect tiny fingers and fingernails, that's why they're so good at it. The leaves are very delicate, of the tea I mean, therefore requiring more precision when picking. The best quality leaves are located at the top of the shoot and they are called the spearhead. The other leaves on the shoot are called the flags. Very interesting right? Who would ever think of this? Calling them spearheads and flags. I mean, were talking about a plant here after all, silly, am I right? The flags, as I was saying are considered the lower quality tea. White tea comes from the top of the shoot, in another words this is the highest creation of God, the top tea comes from he
